Today i learnt something new regarding Ramadan, the month which Malays are suppose to fast.
You know Malays have to fast in the morning and break fast like around 7pm right? But do you know there is an EXACT timing that they have to follow, like today was to start fasting at 5.42am and to break fast at 7.09pm... Cool huh...
Fasting, meaning cannot consume anything at all during the stated hours in the day, yes, not even water. Then i was wondering, what if a Malay patient is lying in the hospital and he needs to take pills with water? I brought this up to Rahim and he taught me.... "The patient is sick, he is suppose to take his pills and drink more water... That is different la.."
"Oh i seeeeee...."
Another thing is they are also suppose to pray 5 times in a day. So at 4.16pm today, when Rahim told me it's time to pray i'm like "Huh? how you know it's time to pray?" Rahim then passed me a copy of BERITA HARIAN (the Malay newspaper)... At the top left corner, you can actually see the timings printed there for them to start fasting and break fast and the 5 timings for praying. Then i was wondering again, what if it's 4.16pm already but you happened to be in the MRT? Or in the toilet?? Rahim then taught me again... "4.16pm is time to pray.. but nvm.. you have all the time to pray until the next praying time. but it's better to pray at 4.16pm.."
"Ohhh i seeeeee......." So it's like everyday the timing will be different! And you will have to buy Berita Harian very early in the morning thru out Ramadan. hahaha
Rahim also said fasting can slim down. Maybe i can try it out. lol
Thought of doing henna too....
Rahim will be quitting end of this month for retirement. One nice Malay uncle i know. Managed to snap shot him...
hahahaa.......
Oh ya, KEROPOK LEKO is yummy. Pronounced as "Ke-ro-pok Leh-ko"... Able to buy it from pasar malam.. Very cheap and very nice. Is actually made of fish....
Aku bergi tidur (I go sleep).
